Neck Ties

ASCOT
A wide scarf crossed in front and secured with a stickpin. It's a very formal look that you don't see much these days.

BOW TIE
This is the classic formalwear neckwear. The bow tie coordinates with a cummerbund or waistcoat. While a pre-tied bow tie was OK for the prom, the hand-tied version is more appropriate for the big day.

FOUR-IN-HAND TIE
This is the familiar tie that's worn with a suit, in a dressier fabric. These days, a black four-in-hand tie is a popular option, but ties come in many colors and patterns.

Accessories

Button Cover
A decoration worn over the top shirt button, usually with a mandarin-style collar.

Cuff Links
An ornamental device that fits through the buttonholes on the cuffs of a French-cuffed shirt to hold the cuff together.

Cummerbund
A wide satin band worn around the waist with a tuxedo. The cummerbund usually matches the bow tie.

Braces
Braces are what suspenders are called in the world of formalwear. Belts are almost never worn with formalwear.

Waistcoat
The vest that is worn under the formal coat. It covers the beltline of the trousers. The waistcoat has become a popular option, and the variety of colors and fabrics available make it a great way to personalize the ensemble.
